Folding Sack Trucks

A Sack truck is one tool that you simply cannot do without - and if you get one, your back (or the backs of your employees) will thank you for it. The term sack truck actually refers to a type of cart that is pushed by hand and is very, very useful in transporting and moving goods around in a store, warehouse, or even in your own home or garage.

The sack truck is sometimes referred to as a hand truck or trolley. It is essentially a manual device in the shape of an L used to move boxes, or bags, or sacks for example. It has handles vertically at one end which are used to steer the truck, and wheels at the bottom which allow it to be easily maneuvered.

Sack trucks are distinguished by their L-shaped design, which is fitted with wheels at the base and handles at the top to make them easy to use. The toe plate of the sack truck is a small protruding platform that lays flat against the ground so that it can "scoop" up things that need to be moved, such as boxes. Or boxes can be sat manually on the tool. Following the loading of the truck, the operator would tilt the truck backwards and then move it to where the goods needed to be moved were. In addition to the term hand truck, you may have heard this handy tool called a dollie, stack truck, bag barrow, or two-wheeled dollie.

Stainless steel powder-coated trucks are the best material for these heavy-duty Folding Sack Trucks, although you can also find them made from high impact plastic, tube steel, aluminum, or aluminum and steel blends. Steel trucks are more durable and can handle a bigger workload than those made of other materials. Look for tires that are made of a high gauge rubber, especially if you plan to use the truck for heavier loads. As the load is transported, a high-end sack truck may have a ball bearing hub to minimize shock to the load.

You may also want to consider wheel protectors that can help you cradle and hold loads better, as well as make maneuvering in tight spaces easier. As a rule of thumb, the better the quality of the wheels and tires, the more pay load the truck will be able to handle, even when traversing rougher terrain outside of a smooth concrete floor. Based on the weight you plan to haul regularly, purchase a sack truck. Some trucks are designed to carry bigger items, and thus have a larger and longer toe plate. Some trucks may also have thicker toe plates because they haul bigger, bulkier, or heavier items.

It is important to pay attention to the maximum weight that the truck can handle. If space is a concern, or if you plan to transport the truck, you should look for a folding truck that can be easily folded down and stored or transported to another location.
